Private visa for Belarus

Are you planning a private trip to Belarus to visit family members, acquaintances, or friends? For your stay, you need a private visa, also called a visitor visa. Due to the existing visa requirements, there is no way to enter Belarus without a valid visa as a foreigner.

The consular department of the Embassy of Belarus and the Belarusian General Consulate distinguish three durations of private visas:

• up to 30 days stay with single, double or multiple entry
• up to 90 days stay with single, double or multiple entry
• 90 days per year with multiple entries

While the duration in the first two variants applies consecutively, i.e., a continuous period of a maximum of 30 or 90 days is specified in the visa, the visa with a one-year validity period offers the possibility to distribute the stays throughout the year. However, the maximum number of days (= 90) must also be observed here.

For entry into Belarus with a private visa for a duration of up to 30 or 90 days, one of the following proofs is usually required:

• Original invitation from the local migration authority, which your host has applied for
• Written proof of the necessity of your visit, e.g. if a relative in Belarus is seriously ill
• Proof of residential property in the Republic of Belarus in original
• Notarially or consularly certified invitation of a Belarusian citizen
• Invitation or contract of a healthcare organization (for example, hospital)

For multivisas valid for 90 days within a year, either the official invitation from the migration authority, proof of residential property, or certification from a medical facility is required. EU citizens who stay in Belarus for a maximum of 30 days do not need an official invitation to obtain a private visa for Belarus. Usually, it is sufficient to provide the name, address, and telephone number of the person visited as well as the intended residential address during the stay and the purpose of the visit. Children up to 14 years receive private visas for Belarus from us at reduced conditions because the consular fee is waived.

Note: The period for visa-free stay of foreign citizens in Belarus has been increased from 5 days to 30 days.
