Iran has tightened visa controls for Russian tourists

Instead they must contact Iranian tourist companies that collaborate with Russian tour operators. These companies will handle all organizational issues, including booking hotels and appointing accompanying guides. In some cases, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs may request additional information, such as a traveler's resume or links to their social media pages, for further identity verification. 

These measures have been introduced in response to the worsening situation in the Middle East and are aimed at preventing the entry of undesirable individuals. They are expected to remain in effect until the situation in the region stabilizes.
