You can extend your visa in Iran only if you enter with a reference number. The maximum extension period is 7 days. The competent authority in Iran makes the decision on extension in each specific case. The application must be submitted in advance before the visa expires.
My parents are Iranians, and I was born in Germany and have a German passport. Can I enter Iran with it?
In Iran, the principle of origin applies, which means that children of Iranian parents are automatically considered Iranians under Iranian law. You are allowed to enter only with an Iranian passport. If the father is not Iranian, and only the mother is Iranian, then the child is allowed to enter with a foreign passport if they do not have an Iranian passport and were born abroad.
Do I need a hotel booking confirmation and flight booking confirmation to apply for a visa?
Exclusively for citizens of Canada, the USA, and England, a confirmation of a package tour booking with a guide is required. It must specify the exact travel itinerary. Citizens of other countries, including Germans, do not need booking confirmations.
During German and Iranian holidays, Iranian foreign representations are closed. Do Iranian holidays fall on the same dates every year?
No, Iranian holidays are calculated according to the lunar calendar. Therefore, there are deviations from year to year. Possible consulate closures must be taken into account when applying for a visa.

What clothing rules should men follow?

Is it allowed for unmarried couples to stay in the same double room?
Yes, usually unmarried couples from abroad are allowed to sleep in the same room.
Is it allowed to eat on the street during Ramadan?
During Ramadan, restaurants and eateries are closed until sunset. Eating on the street is not recommended. Eating in hotels is allowed at any time.

What currencies are accepted in Iran?
It is recommended to pay with the Iranian currency - rial. However, in many places, shops also accept US dollars and euros. Payment by credit card is only possible in very rare exceptional cases.
What is the electricity supply in Iran?
The voltage in the network is 220 volts, the same as in Germany. The network frequency is 50 hertz. A type C plug is required.
