After you are enrolled in an Iranian university, you should start preparing for your trip. It is important to remember that to obtain a visa, you need to submit an application to the embassy or consulate of Iran before the start of the semester abroad.

Visa requirements

To obtain a student visa, the consular section of Iran requires a valid reference number that corresponds to a notarized invitation. To obtain this number, the student must contact the Iranian university that issued the invitation. The contact person at the university submits an application for the reference number to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Interview

In some cases, the embassy may ask applicants for a student visa to attend an interview. In this case, it is necessary to bring printed copies of all required documents to the interview.

Duration of student visa

Iranian consulates offer visas for single, double, and multiple entries. A multiple-entry visa is valid for 3, 6, or 12 months.

The actual duration of the student visa and the allowed period of stay depend on the invitation, that is, on the university's permission in Iran or the approval of the ministry.
