Transit visa Tajikistan

If you intend to transit through Tajikistan to reach any destination, the transit visa allows passage for a limited period. Using Tajikistan as a transit country is a good option, for example, if you are taking a tour of Central Asia or visiting neighboring countries. Countries bordering the Tajik territory include China, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Afghanistan.

Note:

Currently, a personal appearance and fingerprint submission at the embassy or consulate are required to apply for a "classic visa" - the one that is pasted in the passport. Therefore, we recommend applying for an e-Visa for Tajikistan through us.

To apply for a transit visa, you need a main visa for your destination country. The visa should already be included in your passport, as it serves as proof for the planned onward journey to transit through Tajikistan. In addition to the entry permit for your destination country, the following documents are required:

• Application form in duplicate
• 2 passport photos (3 x 4 cm)
• Original passport and copies of the first two pages

Transit visas are valid for a specified period (e.g. 01.01. - 02.01.). It is therefore important that applicants plan their travel route as accurately as possible and enter the travel dates in the application form. The permitted length of stay is optional:

• up to 24 hours
• up to 48 hours
• up to 72 hours (maximum).

The visa costs are staggered depending on the visa validity, meaning that higher consular fees apply for longer transit stays.

While the transit visa is only valid for a maximum of 3 days, holders of tourist visas have the opportunity to stay in Tajikistan for up to 7, 14, 30, 45, or even 60 days.

Once overnight stays in hotels are planned, a transit visa is usually not allowed. Travelers need a tourist visa, which is available for citizens of the following countries - for single entry - without an invitation: Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Finland, France, Greece, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Spain, USA.

The tourist visa offers the advantage of more flexible travel planning, especially when traveling overland where unforeseen delays can be expected.
