Tajikistan Tourist Visa
Visa for tourists in Tajikistan
You dream of traveling to Tajikistan to get to know the country and its people? Due to the visa requirement for foreign travelers, the tourist visa is one of the prerequisites for your vacation in the Central Asian landlocked country. In the high mountain country, surrounded by Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Afghanistan, there is plenty of art and culture to discover. In addition, wellness and sports offerings invite you to relax.
Note:
Currently, a personal appearance and the submission of fingerprints at the embassy or consulate are necessary for applying for a "classic visa" - which is glued into the passport. Therefore, we recommend applying for an e-Visa for Tajikistan through us.

Visa for Tajikistan
Visa Application: Requirements and Documents
To issue a visa, the Embassy of Tajikistan requires the following documents:
- Passport with at least 1 free page for the visa stamp and at least 6 months validity from the day of visa issuance, in original and copy (pages 1-2)
- 2 passport photos (3 x 4 cm)
- Visa application in duplicate, fully filled out and signed (signature on passport and form must match)
- For non-EU citizens: copy of residence permit for Germany valid for at least another 6 months
- For EU citizens: registration certificate for Germany (not older than 6 months)
- Invitation from a Tajik tourism company or travel agency in copy
A tourist invitation is not required for Germans, Austrians and nationals of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ireland (Rep.), Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, Spain and the USA.
If you need an invitation due to your nationality, please contact a travel agency in Tajikistan. The invitation letter should include the following information: name and nationality of the traveler, travel dates, border crossing points, means of transportation, description of the travel route, address of the booked accommodation or local tour operator.
Special permit for Gorno-Badakhshan
Applicants intending to visit Gorno-Badakhshan or Pamir are required to obtain a special permit (GBAO Permit). Please indicate in point 21 of the visa application if you wish to have a permit. Enter all expected travel locations there and highlight the line in color after printing the forms.
Validity of Visa and Permitted Stay Duration
The validity of the tourist visa for Tajikistan corresponds to the maximum length of stay, i.e. the exact travel dates must be entered in the application form. The duration for which the visa is issued by the competent foreign representation depends on the information provided by the applicant in the visa application or the tourist invitation. The day of arrival and departure counts. The longer the planned trip, the higher the visa fees. The visa validities are staggered as follows:
- up to 7 days
- up to 14 days
- up to 30 days
- up to 45 days
- up to 60 days
Observe reporting obligation as a tourist
Please note that for stays of 30 days or more, a registration obligation exists in Tajikistan. Registration must be done within 72 hours of entry at the OVIR. Inquire at the airport about the authorities responsible at your travel destination and find out in advance if your accommodation handles the registration.
