The Republic of Tajikistan is located between Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, and Afghanistan. When applying for a visa for the Republic of Tajikistan, in the first step, choose a type of visa that corresponds to the purpose of your planned visit. The consulates of the Republic in Central Asia issue different types of visas to Germans, Austrians, Swiss, and travelers from other countries.

For business, service, and multiple entry visas, an invitation from a contact person or company in the Republic of Tajikistan is required. Single entry visas are available without an invitation letter for nationals of more than 80 countries.

The passport, 2 passport photos, and the fully completed application form in duplicate are always required.

Those planning a trip to the high mountains of Gorno-Badakhshan or Pamir in the east of the country need a special permit, which can be applied for together with the visa. The corresponding places must be entered under point 21 in the application.

The validity of the visas is determined by the Embassy of Tajikistan for each applicant. It usually depends on the applicant's travel plans or invitations from the host country (e.g. for multiple entries). Tourist visas are usually structured as follows:

• 1-7 days (single, double entry)
• 8-14 days (single, double entry)
• 15-30 days (single, double, multiple entry)
• 31-45 days (single, double, multiple entry)
• 46-60 days (single, double, multiple entry)

For work visas and other visa categories, periods of 3, 6 or even 12 months are possible if sufficient approvals and evidence are provided. The transit visa is valid for 24, 48 or 72 hours depending on the booking confirmation.

The longer the approved length of stay, the higher the fees.
