Russia promises to introduce visa-free travel for Chinese citizens
At the meeting in China, held within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, Vladimir Putin announced that Russia will introduce a visa-free regime for Chinese citizens. This step will be a response to Beijing's decision to open visa-free entry for Russians with ordinary passports from September 15 for up to 30 days.
Until that time, there was an agreement between the two countries that only organized tourist groups of 5 to 50 people could enter without visas. For individual trips, Chinese citizens had to obtain electronic or regular visas. The electronic visa to Russia, introduced in 2023, allowed staying in the country for up to 30 days.
It is planned that now it will be easier for tourists from China to come to Russia on their own, and Russians will be able to go to China without unnecessary formalities. Experts believe that this decision will greatly simplify travel, increase interest in cultural exchange, and contribute to the growth of the tourist flow in both directions.
