Proof of Willingness to Return

The embassy expects all travelers to Russia with a German passport to provide proof of their willingness to return.

Willingness to Return – What is it?

Since all Russian citizens traveling to Germany must confirm their willingness to return in writing, the Russian Federation has also made this applicable to Germans. The return willingness certificate provides information that you have a steady job in Germany or otherwise receive income sources or have a reason to return to your home country.

Required documents for willingness to return

For workers/employees:

Copy of a pay slip from the last month or copy of a bank statement showing the salary deposit clearly or copy of a certificate from the employer about permanent employment and salary details. The required documents must not be more than 3 months old.

For self-employed:

Current certificate of existing business, business license, commercial register excerpt or certificate from the tax advisor about the income. The proof of willingness to return must not be older than 3 months.

For students:

Copy of a BAföG certificate or copy of a student ID or a valid enrollment certificate.

For housewives:

Copy of the pay slip of the supporting husband (not older than 3 months).

For unemployed:

Copy of the max. 3 months old information about social benefits/unemployment benefits

For retirees:

Copy of a current pension notification. This must not be more than 3 months old.

Is there an alternative for applicants?

We, as an accredited visa agency, have the possibility to be liable for your willingness to return. For a fee of 15.00 euros, we will take over the certificate of willingness to return for you. So you do not have to provide personal information about your company, your income, etc.
