Visa for Kaliningrad

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has introduced an electronic visa process for selected nationalities. Accordingly, EU citizens can obtain a so-called e-visa for the Kaliningrad region and then stay there for up to 30 days. If you intend to stay in the region for more than 30 days or visit other destinations in Russia, you will need a tourist visa for Russia.

With the electronic visa for Russia and Kaliningrad, Russia is opening up to the West. This allows not only tourists, but also business travelers or private individuals to visit Kaliningrad more easily and for a manageable period of time.
The e-visa must be applied for online at least four days before the start of the journey. The entry permit is then issued to the traveler in electronic form. With an e-visa for Kaliningrad, the entire application process is simplified and no invitations or other documents are required anymore. At the border posts, the passport and proof of an international and valid for Russia international health travel insurance must be presented.

With the newly designed short-term visa, only a single entry into Kaliningrad will continue to be possible. Travelers with the electronic entry permit have the right to stay in the Kaliningrad region for 30 days without registration. Tourists planning to travel to Russia after their stay in Kaliningrad should apply for a regular tourist visa for Russia in advance.
