South Korea has extended K-ETA-free entry for citizens of 22 countries until the end of 2026.
The authorities of South Korea have extended the temporary exemption from mandatory electronic entry permit (K-ETA) for citizens of 22 countries and regions. The decision was made by the Ministry of Justice as part of the 'Year of Visiting Korea' program and will be in effect until December 31, 2026.
Without the need for K-ETA, tourists from countries previously included in the preferential list can enter the country. When applying on the system's website, travelers from these countries will automatically receive a notification that the permit is not required.
Previously, a similar measure was in effect initially until the end of 2024, then it was extended until December 31, 2025. The exemption also applies to citizens of Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, and the USA.
However, tourists can still apply for K-ETA voluntarily. In this case, they are exempt from filling out an arrival card.
The government notes that the extension of the privilege is aimed at stimulating international tourism and preparing for large international events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
