Cape Verde to abolish visas on arrival for citizens of 96 countries from 2026
From January 1, 2026, Cape Verde has canceled the possibility of obtaining a visa on arrival for citizens of 96 nationalities. The new rules require mandatory processing of an entry or transit visa before traveling, including cases of transfers at the country's airports. Arrival without a valid visa may result in denial of entry or transit.
Previously, travelers could complete online registration and obtain a visa upon arrival after paying fees. From 2026, this option is completely canceled. Online registration remains in place for all entrants and is still mandatory, including payment of the airport security fee.
Therefore, travelers are advised to check visa requirements in advance before planning a trip.
