Kubas E-Visum-Portal bleibt auch nach geplantem Neustart-Termin offline

Cuba's e-visa portal remains offline even after its scheduled relaunch date

Travelers who need an electronic visa to visit Cuba should currently expect delays. The official online portal for applying for electronic visas has been unavailable since October 29, 2026, and was originally scheduled to resume operations on November 2. As of November 3, however, access remains blocked, and no new definitive date has been given for when service will resume.

The shutdown is due to a technical system upgrade: Cuban authorities are replacing the previous platform, known internally as “Evisa1,” with a new version called “Evisa2.” The goal of the transition is to expand the range of online services and, in the future, to be able to process additional visa categories digitally. Several Cuban diplomatic missions abroad had already announced the planned maintenance at the end of October, indicating that it would take only a few days.

According to the original information, the existing system was scheduled to be taken offline at midnight on October 29 (local time in Cuba), with service set to resume on November 2 at 6:00 a.m. This schedule was confirmed, among others, by Cuban consulates in several countries, which described the measure as a technical upgrade of the electronic visa system. However, the actual duration of the outage has now exceeded the announced timeframe.

For applicants, this means one thing above all: planning certainty is currently limited. Anyone who needs an electronic visa for Cuba on short notice should allow for extra time, as it is unclear when the new platform will be reliably and fully operational. This particularly affects travelers who are planning their trip at the last minute or who have already booked flights and accommodations.

We at buch-dein-visum.de are closely monitoring developments surrounding the system transition in Cuba and are preparing applications so that they can be processed as soon as the new platform is running stably. For tourist stays, we assist with applications through our e-visa service for Cuba; for business purposes, we offer support with the business visa for Cuba. You can find an overview of all visa types and requirements on our visa overview page for Cuba.

Until the system is fully restored, we recommend that anyone planning a trip to Cuba prepare their documents well in advance and avoid submitting applications at the last minute. Once the new “Evisa2” platform is functioning reliably, processing should return to normal—and may even include expanded features for additional visa categories.
