Where can I get a visa for my vacation?
To obtain a travel permit for Algeria, a visa application must be submitted to the Algerian Embassy in Berlin or the Algerian Consulate General in Frankfurt before the trip. The consular missions abroad require a number of documents in addition to personal documents to prove your tourist travel intention. If you are not going on vacation, but have other reasons for your visit, you are obliged to apply for a visa that corresponds to the purpose of your trip. Long journeys, formal errors, and language barriers are the most common hurdles on the way to a visa. Are there travel restrictions?
Generally, the tourist visa allows you to discover all of Algeria. However, tourists intending to stay in the southern part of the country need an invitation letter from the Algerian Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, issued upon request from an officially recognized travel agency. The invitation must include information on the duration of the trip, the accommodation on site, and the planned travel route by the agency. For road trips, such as through the Sahara, a detailed itinerary must also be included. For all other parts of the country, a hotel booking confirmation is sufficient. However, printouts from online booking portals are not allowed, the confirmation must come directly from the accommodation. For private accommodation, such as staying with friends in Algeria, travelers need a legalized accommodation certificate from the inviting person. The document is issued by the municipal administration of the respective place of residence in Algeria. Please make sure that your passport does not contain an Israeli entry stamp, as Algerian authorities will refuse to issue a visa in this case.
