Private Visa Algeria

You have relatives or friends in Algeria, but do not have an Algerian passport yourself? As a foreigner, in order to visit your family members or friends in Africa, you need a private visa for Algeria. With this entry permit in hand, there is nothing standing in the way of a reunion. The Algerian immigration authorities issue visitor visas for visiting friends or acquaintances residing in Algeria, as well as family visas for the reunion of family members.

If you intend to stay with an Algerian national during your trip, you will need a legalized invitation. Contact your host in Algeria and ask them to apply for an accommodation certificate - a so-called Certificat D'Herbergement - at the relevant city administration. The Algerian authority will send the document by fax or mail to the applicant or the consular section of the foreign mission processing the visa application. Note on family visas: Spouses registered at the embassy or minor children of registered Algerian citizens only need a copy of the consulate's registration certificate instead of proof of accommodation.

The Algerian Embassy and the Algerian Consulate General accept exclusively digital and fully completed forms. Handwritten entries or corrections are not allowed. The application for the Algeria Private Visa and the complete application documents such as passport, passport photos, invitation, etc. must be submitted personally or through an accredited visa agency at a competent foreign representation. Visa issuance by courier or mail is not desired.

Basically, there are two different visas:

• with a visa validity of up to 90 days
• with a visa validity of more than 90 days

The maximum stay duration in both cases is usually 30 days. In addition, private visas only entitle to single entry into Algeria. Visa holders are allowed to cross the border until the penultimate day of visa validity. Please note that the validity of the private visa for Algeria and the approved duration of the visit always depend on the information in your accommodation certificate.

Note: The embassy and consulate decide individually for each applicant on the visa validity and the permitted duration of the trip. The decisive criterion is usually the data in the invitation.
