Vietnam: Health Declaration Not Mandatory for All Travelers
Starting July 1, 2026, the health declaration will not automatically be mandatory for all travelers in Vietnam. The Vietnamese authorities have provided this clarification to avoid misunderstandings. The health declaration is part of a new health framework; however, this does not mean that travelers must fill out a form every time they enter Vietnam.
While the option to require a health declaration exists, it will only be activated under certain health conditions. The decision on whether a declaration is required depends on the epidemiological situation and the risk of introducing communicable diseases into Vietnam.
For travelers, this means that there is currently no general requirement to complete a health declaration before traveling to Vietnam. The implementation of this measure will depend on directives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health and will be guided by developments in the global health situation.
It is important to note that the website previously used for the health declaration is no longer active. Travelers should therefore not attempt to complete the process via that address. A new official system for the health declaration is currently being developed.
For travelers who need an e-visa for Vietnam or other types of visas, the process remains unchanged. The health declaration will not be introduced as an additional routine formality.
In summary, travelers heading to Vietnam do not need to worry about additional health forms for the time being. However, the situation may change if health conditions worsen.
