Kazakhstan and the EU have begun negotiations on visa facilitation in 2025
Kazakhstan and the European Union announced the start of negotiations to ease the visa regime and conclude a readmission agreement. This became known at the meeting of the Kazakhstan-EU Cooperation Council in Brussels, where the heads of foreign affairs agencies confirmed the readiness of the parties to move towards more open and prompt interaction. The occasion is symbolic — the tenth anniversary of the Enhanced Partnership Agreement, which has become the foundation of their strategic dialogue.
As EU representatives reported, negotiations officially began on December 2. Brussels hopes that the new rules will reduce bureaucracy, speed up document processing, and facilitate travel for Kazakh citizens — especially students, scientists, and specialists. Against the backdrop of the popularity of the Erasmus+ and Horizon Europe programs, the issue of mobility is becoming particularly relevant for Kazakhstan, and the European Union is ready to make a step forward.
