In 2026, Kazakhstan officially launched the issuance of electronic entry permits (ETA). The system is created to simplify border control, speed up border crossing, and digitalize migration services for foreign citizens

ETA Status and Requirement

Currently, ETA registration is voluntary for citizens of countries with a visa-free regime, including Russia and Belarus.

In the future, it is planned that having an ETA will become a mandatory condition for crossing the border of Kazakhstan.

The main goal of the platform is to pre-check traveler's data to expedite control at airports and ground border crossings.

How to apply for an ETA in Kazakhstan in 2026

Personal data: full name, phone, email. Scanning of the passport.
Travel information: purpose of visit, dates of entry and exit, region of stay, type of transport.
Additionally: the system may request medical insurance, hotel reservation or return tickets.
Submission deadline: it is recommended to apply no later than 72 hours before arrival.

Important ETA resolution parameters

Validity period: approved permission is valid for 180 days.
Impact on stay: ETA does not replace registration and does not change the stay limit. For Russian citizens, it remains 90 days within 180 days.
