Usually, the process of obtaining an electronic visa takes an average of 10 working days.

When applying for an electronic visa, you need: a passport, a photograph, return flight tickets, confirmation of hotel reservation, and other documents confirming the purpose of the trip. After receiving the electronic visa, the traveler should print the confirmation and present it upon entry into the country along with the passport.

It is also important to remember that the validity of the electronic visa depends on the type of visa, so it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the rules and requirements in advance to avoid inconvenience when planning a trip to Indonesia. According to Indonesian law, vaccination is not a mandatory procedure. Therefore, it is recommended to get vaccinated against the following diseases: hepatitis A and B, rabies, typhoid fever, measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, malaria, yellow fever. Many of these diseases are prevalent in Indonesia, so vaccinations are an important part of preparing for travel to this country.

As of June 9, 2023, Indonesia has lifted all sanitary restrictions related to COVID-19. No more vaccination certificates are required.

Before traveling to Indonesia with your pet, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with the rules for importing animals into this country. It is better to plan all actions 3 months before the planned travel date in order to meet all the necessary requirements. The pet must be at least 6 months old, the breed must be allowed for import into Indonesia, and also for the flight by the airline through transit routes.

The first step will be to prepare all the necessary documents: 

Vaccination certificates. For this, you need to visit a veterinary clinic. There, the pet will be examined, mandatory vaccinations and chipping will be carried out. The main vaccination for all animals going to Indonesia is vaccination against rabies. After this vaccination, at least 30 days must pass, but no more than a year.

For cats, before importing into Indonesia, additional vaccination against Calicivirus, Rhinotracheitis, and Panleukopenia is required. Dogs need vaccinations against Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, and Parvovirus. It is also recommended to carry out additional vaccination against Bordetella to avoid bacterial infections during quarantine. Vaccination against all listed diseases must be carried out a year before the trip, but not less than 21 days before departure. 

Chipping. According to the current rules for entering Indonesia with pets, the microchip installed in the animal must meet ISO 11784/11785 standards. The information about the animal must be properly registered in the international database. These measures allow for the identification and control of animals crossing the border.

Permission to import an animal. To import animals into Indonesia, a special permit known as Import Permit or Import Licence is required, which is issued by the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry. Planning to obtain a permit should be done in advance, as the process takes about 5 weeks, and the validity of the permit is limited to 90 days.

Certificate. After the veterinary examination of the animal, the state veterinary service issues a Ф1 certificate. At customs, this certificate is replaced with an International Health Certificate

Veterinary passport of the animal. In 2024, it will be mandatory to have an international veterinary passport for the import of dogs, cats, and other domestic pets into Indonesia. It should record all vaccinations carried out.

Quarantine. In regions such as Madura, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, West Papua, West Kalimantan, and all islands of Sumatra, it is forbidden to transport dogs, cats, monkeys, and other animals. For transporting animals to other islands, it is necessary to first go through a quarantine procedure (14 days) in Jakarta, as this is a mandatory requirement when importing animals into Indonesia.
