In July 2024, the Thai government launched the multi-purpose Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) — a long-term visa aimed at digital nomads, freelancers, participants in cultural or medical programs, as well as family accompaniment.

Features of the digital nomad visa in Thailand:
- Validity period: 5-year multiple entry visa
- Duration of stay: up to 180 days per entry. Can be extended for an additional 180 days once per entry
- Financial requirements: As of August 2025, the applicant must have at least 500,000 THB in the account (or equivalent income)
- Cost of visa: approximately 10,000 THB (≈ 270€ / ≈ 300 USD), may vary slightly depending on the country of application
From May 1, 2025, the paper form TM6 is canceled. Now all visitors to Thailand must fill out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online (at least 3 days before entry)

Who is suitable for the digital nomad visa in Thailand:
- Digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers, foreign specialists working for a foreign company or independently, regardless of insurance
- Participants in Thai “soft power” events, such as Muay Thai courses, Thai cuisine, sports training, music/cultural festivals or medical tourism
- Spouses and children up to 20 years, dependents of the main applicant (dependent visas available)

What documents are needed to apply for a digital nomad visa in Thailand?
Depending on the purpose of entry, the documents may vary.
For digital nomads, remote workers, foreign talents, and freelancers:
- Completed application form.
- Photo on a white background.
- Passport with a validity of at least 6 months.
- Financial proof: an amount of at least 500,000 baht over the last 3 months (e.g., bank statements, pay slips, sponsorship letters).
- Professional portfolio demonstrating the status of a digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent, or freelancer.
- For self-employed – a business registration certificate.
Candidates who are self-sufficient must be over 20 years old. There should be no history of long-term violations of stay with the Thai immigration service. Additional documents may also be required depending on your nationality.
For activities related to Thai culture, such as:
Muay Thai, Thai cuisine, Education and seminars, Sports, Medical treatment, Foreign talents, Art and music related events, the following documents are needed:
- Completed application form.
- Photo on a white background
- Passport with a validity of at least 6 months
- Financial proof: an amount of at least 500,000 baht over the last 3 months, such as bank statements, pay slips, sponsorship letter
- Letter of admission from an institute or company organizing events, or referral from a hospital/medical center
For minors under 20 years old, additional documents are required:
- Document confirming current location.
- Financial proof: an amount of at least 500,000 baht over the last 3 months, for example, bank statements, pay slips, sponsorship letter.
- DTV visa of DTV holder. Personal information of the DTV visa holder (for example, a valid state-issued ID, passport biographical page, and DTV visa approval of the DTV visa holder)
- Proof of kinship with the DTV visa holder, for example, a copy of the marriage certificate, birth certificate, adoption certificate.
- Proof of long-term residence in Thailand for at least 6 months, for example, condominium rental agreement, lease agreement, etc.
- Copy of the main salary/payroll sheet/monthly income of DTV for the last 6 months.
For spouses and children under 20 years of age of DTV visa holders:
- Copy of birth certificate or adoption certificate.
- Copy of the parent's marriage certificate; in case of sole custody, a notarially certified copy of the court decision is required.
- Copy of passport or ID of mother and father/legal guardian.
- Original notarially certified consent for the minor to travel abroad from the mother and father/legal guardian, if the applicant is traveling alone.
All documents in German or any third language must be translated into English and notarially certified.
