Visas for tourist trips to Saudi Arabia are difficult to obtain

A regular tourist visa for solo travelers in Saudi Arabia is currently not available - generally, visas are offered that, for example, allow a stay in Saudi Arabia when traveling in a group. However, a new option is the e-Visa for Saudi Arabia, which has been enabling entry since early October 2019 and is intended to attract new tourists to the country.

Until some time ago, the Saudi authorities only issued tourist visas for group travels. Currently, regular tourist visas are not available either for travel groups or for individual travelers unless they are tied to an organizer and centrally organized. Purely tourist trips are officially not permitted.

The only way to get to know the country of Saudi Arabia is to enter using a different visa category, e.g., private visa or business visa or the e-Visa. However, the conditions for the visa types must be observed, which can only be applied for by invitation of a Saudi private individual or a company. Misusing a visa for a vacation trip is prohibited.

Currently, there are no official statements about whether the Saudi embassy will issue group travel visas again in the foreseeable future.
