Turkey will simplify visa requirements for Vietnamese citizens starting September 1, 2025
From September 1, 2025, citizens of Vietnam will be able to apply for electronic visas (e-visa) to enter Turkey for tourism or short-term business purposes. This was officially announced by the Embassy of Turkey in Hanoi. The innovation has become an important step in the development of bilateral cooperation and the expansion of humanitarian ties between the countries.
According to the new procedure, holders of regular Vietnamese passports will no longer need to have a valid visa to the Schengen area countries, the USA, the UK, or Ireland to apply for an e-visa, as was previously required. Applications can be made entirely online. The electronic visa will be valid for 180 days from the date of issue and will allow staying in the country for up to 30 days per trip.
Another incentive for the development of tourism will be the expansion of the route network of the national airline Turkish Airlines in Vietnam. Already in the winter schedule for 2025, the number of direct flights from Hanoi to Istanbul will increase to 11 per week, and from Ho Chi Minh City — to 10. Thus, by the end of the year, Turkish Airlines plans to operate 21 direct flights per week between Vietnam and Turkey.
However, it should be noted, that certain requirements remain in place when applying for an electronic visa: having a return ticket, hotel reservations, and a valid entry or visa to the USA, the UK, Schengen Agreement countries, or Australia. In their absence, it will be necessary to apply for a visa in the traditional manner through the Turkish Embassy in Hanoi.
