Thailand has announced the expansion of its electronic visa (e-Visa) service to an additional 16 countries. The e-Visa system now covers countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa and Oceania, among others.
In total, e-Visa is now available in 39 countries and 59 embassies and consulates worldwide.
This initiative is primarily for foreign nationals of those countries that require a visa to travel to Thailand. Citizens of visa-free countries can also apply for an e-Visa in their home country, for example, if the trip involves a longer stay in Thailand than allowed under the country-specific visa-free entry rules.
Thus, e-Visa is available for the following 39 countries with Thai consular offices in the respective cities:
As a reminder, Thailand will introduce electronic travel authorization (ETA) for visa-exempt nationals from December 1, 2024. The system will be integrated into a single e-Visa and ETA permit portal and will be fully operational by summer 2025.
