Mandatory electronic arrival card introduced in India from October 7
From October 7, 2025, India has introduced a mandatory electronic arrival card (e-Arrival Card) for all foreign nationals, including OCI cardholders (Overseas Citizen of India). This new requirement replaces the paper disembarkation card and is aimed at speeding up immigration control at the country's airports.
Now all travelers are required to fill out the form no later than 72 hours before arriving in India. The paper disembarkation card will only be accepted during the transition period — within the next six months.
An exception is made only for holders of Indian passports. All other categories of foreigners, including OCI cardholders, must complete online registration before entering. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in delays at passport control.
