Slovenia opens its doors to digital nomads

Slovenia has officially introduced the 'Digital Nomad' visa, which will allow remote workers to settle in the country for up to one year. Local authorities promise ideal conditions for work and life: clean lakes, mountain peaks, vineyards, and modern digital infrastructure, thanks to which productivity and harmony go hand in hand. 

The country, called the 'green heart of Europe', is ready to welcome guests who value nature and comfort. Two-thirds of the territory is covered by forests, and a third is protected. Alpine peaks, sunny coastlines, picturesque hills — all this is literally within walking distance, making Slovenia a real magnet for digital nomads and those seeking a balance between work and life.

Citizens of non-EU countries who work remotely for foreign companies or clients outside Slovenia can obtain the visa — working for local firms is prohibited. Main conditions: income from remote work not less than two average salaries (about 3200 €), having accommodation in the country, health insurance for the entire period, and a certificate of no criminal record. The visa is valid for 12 months without the possibility of extension, but re-application is allowed after six months. Among the benefits are freedom of travel throughout the Schengen Area, a safe environment, ecological cleanliness, and developed digital infrastructure: internet up to 121 Mbps, dozens of coworking spaces, and comfort for any nomad.
