Ghana Introduces Electronic Health Declaration for Travelers Entering the Country

Since early November 2026, travelers to Ghana have been subject to an additional entry requirement: They must complete an electronic health declaration before arriving at one of the country’s international airports. This requirement stems from an announcement by the Ghanaian Ministry of Health on November 3, 2026, in which stricter screening and surveillance measures to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus were announced.

The new requirements were implemented by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and apply without exception to all arriving passengers—regardless of nationality or country of departure. This means the regulation affects virtually every tourist, business traveler, or transit passenger entering Ghana by air.

At the heart of the new measure is the “Ghana Health Declaration,” a digital form that must be completed online before departure. This process provides health authorities with advance information that enables them to assess potential health risks posed by incoming travelers. Once the form is successfully completed, a QR code is generated, which travelers must present to local health authorities upon arrival.

The electronic form consists of a total of six steps, beginning with general information on the applicable health guidelines. Travelers should complete this process well in advance of departure, as the declaration is an additional, mandatory requirement in addition to existing entry documents and cannot be completed at the airport.
