The United Arab Emirates are introducing enhanced visa inspection and auditing procedures for freelancers — the so-called «green residency» — to maintain trust in the labor market and strengthen the country's economic system. The head of the Dubai Residency and Foreigners Affairs, categorically denied rumors of a visa issuance suspension. He noted that the procedures were only tightened after isolated cases of abuse were identified, including illegal visa trading, and that permits continue to be issued uninterrupted through official channels.

The «green residency» program remains a key tool in supporting independent professionals and attracting international talents. It allows freelancers, including designers, journalists, translators, and IT experts, to work legally without an employer, obtaining legal residency and business permits. Meanwhile, the measures for enhanced auditing are not aimed at limiting opportunities, but at maintaining market transparency and preventing abuses.
