It is now easier for Turkish citizens to obtain a Schengen visa
The European Union has announced a simplification of visa procedures for Turkish citizens wishing to visit the Schengen area countries. This was announced on July 18 by the EU ambassador in Ankara, emphasizing that this step is aimed at facilitating the travel of Turkish citizens and increasing the efficiency of the visa system.
According to a representative of the European Union, for many years Turks have faced bureaucratic difficulties in obtaining Schengen visas. Particular dissatisfaction was caused by the long waiting times, caused by the high number of applications and the overload of accredited visa centers.
The EU reported that it is conducting a dialogue with Ankara to find solutions to reduce queues and speed up the processing of applications. One of the measures adopted was the introduction of simplified document submission procedures and a more flexible approach to visa validity periods.
The ambassador also called for the resumption of negotiations on the introduction of a visa-free regime between the EU and Turkey, reminding that the discussions had been suspended amid political disagreements, but remain relevant for both parties.
The update of the visa policy has become part of the efforts to normalize relations between Turkey and the European Union, as well as a step towards strengthening cultural, business, and tourist ties.
