South Africa launches ETA: electronic entry permit for tourists and business travelers
South Africa introduces an electronic entry permit (ETA)
The Minister of Home Affairs of South Africa presented a new electronic entry permit system (ETA), which will operate from mid-October, starting with the participants of the G20 summit. The new portal will allow you to apply for a short-term trip online, whether it is a tourist trip or a business visit.
ETA is intended for citizens of countries that require a visa to enter South Africa. Travelers who are usually exempt from visas will also be able to obtain a permit to expedite border control and simplify entry. The permit is directly linked to the passport and is valid for multiple entries during its validity period, however, it is not suitable for work or study.
The system is undergoing a testing phase and will be launched for G20 participants in mid-October. The first stage will cover citizens of China, India, Indonesia, and Mexico arriving at airports in Johannesburg and Cape Town. After the summit, the ETA will open to all tourists from these countries, and later – plans to expand to all countries requiring a visa.
Our visa agency Buch-dein-visum.de is ready to help with the processing of ETA: we will check all data for errors, fill out the application, consult on any questions, and ensure that the whole process goes smoothly.
Details and a step-by-step guide to processing ETA can be found on our ETA page.
