Cuban authorities extend tourist cards until the end of 2025
Cuba has officially extended the validity of previously issued physical tourist cards until December 31, 2025. This was announced by the country's Ministry of Tourism. Although from July 2024, the processing of an electronic visa (e-Visa) will become a mandatory standard for new applicants, holders of the received tourist cards will be able to continue using them for entry into the country until the end of 2025.
It was previously planned that the tourist cards would expire on June 30, 2025, after which they would be completely replaced by an electronic visa. However, a decision was made to give travelers an additional postponement so that they could use previously issued documents without the risk of being denied entry.
This postponement has been introduced before: the validity of the cards was first extended from December 2024 to June 2025. This measure is aimed at the gradual introduction of digital visa formalities, as well as preventing inconvenience for those who arranged their trip in advance.
From July 2024, the electronic visa is the main entry document for most tourists.
The new visa system allows a single entry for a period of up to 90 days with the possibility of extension in Cuba. At the same time, all travelers are required to undergo online registration on the platform D’Viajeros. From October 2024, this form must be filled out within 7 days before arrival on the island.
The Cuban authorities emphasize that D’Viajeros is necessary regardless of the method of obtaining a visa — whether for holders of a physical card or owners of an electronic visa.
