Taiwan is switching to digital arrival cards from October 1, 2025
Starting October 1, 2025, Taiwan will officially abolish paper arrival cards for foreign nationals and switch to a digital platform called TWAC (Taiwan Arrival Card). This was reported by the National Immigration Agency of Taiwan (NIA). The innovation will affect all foreign travelers who do not have the status of a temporary or permanent resident of the island.
Taiwan thus joins the number of Asian countries that have already implemented similar systems: Malaysia with «MDAC», Cambodia with «e-Arrival» and Thailand with «TDAC». The transition to a digital format is aimed at speeding up border procedures and reducing the use of paper media.
Visitors will need to provide a standard set of data: passport details, flight or ship number, date of arrival, address of stay and purpose of the trip. It is recommended to fill out the form three days before departure, but it is also possible to do so directly at the departure airport. To confirm the submission of the application, the traveler will receive an email with a QR code, which is presented at passport control.
