Morocco will lift the visa requirement for Albanian nationals effective August 15, 2026

Effective August 15, 2026, Morocco will lift the visa requirement for Albanian nationals traveling to the country for short stays. The Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that it had been informed of this decision by the Moroccan Embassy in Rome, which is responsible for Albanian affairs. The exact maximum length of stay permitted under the new regulation has not yet been specified in the official announcement.

Until that date, Albanian nationals holding a standard passport generally required a visa to enter Morocco. An exception applied to certain travelers who already held a valid residence permit from an EU country, the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Norway, New Zealand, or Switzerland with at least 180 days remaining validity—these travelers could apply for an electronic visa (e-visa) under certain conditions. Holders of certain multiple-entry visas with at least 90 days of remaining validity, issued by a Schengen country, the United States, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, or New Zealand, were also eligible.

The previous e-visa for Morocco was intended for tourism and business purposes, was valid for up to 180 days from the date of issuance, and allowed a stay of up to 30 days. Travelers who did not meet the aforementioned eligibility criteria for the electronic application process had to submit a regular visa application through the traditional channels—a process that often involved additional time and documentation requirements.

The current lifting of the visa requirement fulfills a commitment that Morocco and Albania had already made in March 2025. Following a meeting between the foreign ministers of both countries on March 1, 2025, Rabat and Tirana announced in a joint statement that they would introduce reciprocal travel facilitation measures for short-term stays. With the new regulation taking effect on August 15, 2026, this initiative is now being implemented.
