Egypt Will Raise Visa Fees to $33 Effective January 1, 2027

Effective January 1, 2027, the fee for an entry visa to Egypt will increase from the current $30 to $33. This is according to a circular (Circular No. 173/2026) issued by the Egyptian Travel Agents Association (E.T.A.A.) and distributed to stakeholders in the tourism industry. The E.T.A.A. is the professional association that represents Egyptian travel agencies and tourism companies—including in dealings with government authorities—and, in this case, clarifies a previously ambiguous regulation.

The basis for the increase is a resolution by the Egyptian Cabinet dated August 13, 2026, which provides for a $3 increase in entry and transit visa fees. Specifically, this means that a single-entry visa will cost $33 in the future. In addition, an additional $6 in service, issuance, and bank fees—including taxes—may apply, so the actual total cost may increase depending on the application method.

The total cost for the digital visa upon arrival in Cairo is expected to be around $39, including service fees. These figures dispel the uncertainty that arose in the summer of 2026 following the publication of a separate decree, which, taken in isolation, suggested a significantly higher fee—a $15 surcharge. The new circular now clarifies that the actual increase is more moderate than initially feared.
