What happens if I overstay?

If you exceed the stay duration specified in your tourist visa (including e-visa), it will be considered a violation of the visa regime of Azerbaijan. The consequences depend on the specific situation and the duration of the delay:

Main consequences:

  • Fines: At the border upon departure, you will be required to pay an administrative fine. The amount of the fine depends on the number of days overdue.
    For example: For a small exceedance of the term (up to 10 days), the fine can range from 300 to 500 manats. For a more extended violation, the fine increases.

  • Ban on entry into Azerbaijan: In case of serious or repeated violations of the stay duration, migration authorities may decide to ban entry into the country for a certain period:Usually, this is from 6 months to 5 years. In some cases, a permanent ban is possible.

  • Problems with obtaining visas in the future: Violation of the visa regime is recorded in the database of border and migration services. This may negatively affect obtaining new visas not only in Azerbaijan but also in other CIS or post-Soviet countries.

  • Deportation: In case of significant exceedance of the stay term, you may be officially deported with a decree prohibiting entry.
