Angola Launches New Official Platform for E-Visa Applications

Angola’s immigration agency, SME (Serviço de Migração e Estrangeiros), launched a new official platform for electronic visa applications in August 2026. The previous website for e-visa applications now automatically redirects users to the new platform, which serves as the official portal for tourist and business visas. This step is part of a broader digitization program by the Angolan immigration authorities that has been moving forward in recent months.

The application process itself will now consist of three steps: filling out the form and uploading the required documents, paying the applicable fees, and awaiting the authorities’ decision. According to the authorities, the required documents include a valid passport, an international yellow fever vaccination certificate, proof of travel and accommodation plans, and proof of sufficient financial resources. Applications are expected to be processed within 72 hours.

One of the most significant changes concerns the payment process: While under the previous system the actual visa fee was not due until upon entry into Angola or when the visa was issued at the border, the new platform now allows for electronic payment of the fees as part of the online application. The exact fees applicable under the new system had not yet been finalized at the time of the transition.
