What is the KAZA UNIVISA?
Would you like to travel to Africa and are planning to visit unique nature reserves such as those found in the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA)? Zambia and Zimbabwe are perfect for an adventure like this. However, as in most countries, you can't just enter the country. You need official permission to enter the country.
The KAZA UNIVISA gives you official permission to travel to both countries in Africa for a period of 30 days. The validity is therefore limited to a fixed period and may not be exceeded. However, within this period you can cross the border to the respective neighboring country as often as you like. During the period of validity, you can also enter Zambia or Zimbabwe from third countries without restriction. You are therefore flexible during the 30 days and can also make multiple entries.
If you would like to stay in the countries for longer than 30 days, you cannot extend the KAZA visa. Instead, you only have the option of buying a new one. The conditions remain the same. You can buy the KAZA UNIVISA up to three times per year. Alternatively, you also have the option of selecting an ordinary entry visa.
In the next sections you will learn more about the KAZA and how to obtain it, for example via a visa service agent or in advance online (e-visa).
Differences between the KAZA UNIVISA and the traditional e-Visa
In addition to the KAZA UNIVISA, you can also apply for an ordinary tourist visa for your stay. However, the KAZA offers you a number of advantages. This makes it easier for you to apply. It only takes three simple steps to obtain the document. At 30 days, the validity of the KAZA UNIVISA is significantly shorter than the alternatives (up to three months). However, only the KAZA allows you to enter and leave the country several times within this period.

Where can I get the KAZA UNIVISA?
You can only obtain the KAZA at selected locations. Most travelers buy the document when they enter the country. If this is also your method of choice, it is best to go to one of the border crossings. Well-known application points are Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport, Victoria Falls International Airport, the Victoria Falls land border and the Kazungula border post.
As a German citizen, you can also obtain the document online in advance. You will receive it by email after payment and can print it out or show it digitally for further purposes such as multiple entries.
Unfortunately, not all citizens of all countries in the world can purchase the KAZA UNIVISA. The number of countries for whose nationals this service is available is limited.
