The UAE has expanded its Golden Visa program for philanthropists
The United Arab Emirates announced a new phase of the 'Golden Visa' program, adding a category for donors of Islamic foundations (endowments). Now philanthropists investing in humanitarian projects can obtain a ten-year residence permit in the country. The decision is aimed at developing a culture of charity and strengthening social responsibility.
The cooperation agreement was signed by the Main Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and the Donation and Minors Affairs Foundation (Awqaf Dubai) during the GITEX GLOBAL 2025 exhibition. According to the Cabinet Resolution No. 65 of 2022, applicants must donate at least 2 million dirhams to a certified endowment or humanitarian project and receive an official nomination from Awqaf Dubai.
The Awqaf Dubai organization will nominate candidates who meet the established criteria, and GDRFA-Dubai — will process the residence permits. The new category of 'financial sponsors of humanitarian activity' will become part of the overall program to attract investors, patrons, and specialists to the country, whose activities contribute to sustainable development.
