Kyiv has terminated the diplomatic visa-free memorandum with Tehran
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced the termination of the memorandum with Iran, signed in 1993. The document provided for a visa-free regime for holders of diplomatic and service passports of the two countries. This was reported by the permanent representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.
The agreement was concluded on March 15, 1993, in Kyiv and facilitated the travel of officials for the development of diplomatic, trade and cultural ties. It became part of the first steps of Ukraine in establishing foreign policy contacts after gaining independence.
The decision to terminate the memorandum means the cancellation of the simplified visa travel procedure for diplomats and officials, which essentially returns Ukrainian-Iranian relations in this area to the general visa rules.
