Germany announced the closure of all three Iranian consulates
The German Foreign Ministry announced the closure of all three Iranian consulates general on its territory, located in Munich, Hamburg and Frankfurt am Main.
According to an official statement by the German Foreign Ministry, the closure of Iran's consular offices is a measure against Iran's “inhumane regime” and symbolizes the German government's determination to maintain its stance on issues related to the protection of human rights and freedoms.
It is noted that the Iranian embassy in Berlin will continue its work, but restrictions will be imposed on its activities. Consulates will stop accepting documents and providing services to citizens in the coming weeks.
Experts believe that such measures may lead to further aggravation of relations between Germany and Iran, and affect diplomatic ties. It is expected that Iran may retaliate by restricting or making it more difficult for German missions to operate on its territory.
